WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILER-ISH REVIEW FROM CONTEXT CLUES--NO MAJOR REVEALS
Let me start by saying that my partner and I have played through nearly every HAK case and are avid fans. We even own the (now-fabled) subscription-box episodes! So when I say this box was a complete and utter disappointment, I mean it. This game did not deliver. This is also the first box we played (maybe there are others, but like I said, the first WE played) that is unable to be replayed by someone new due to a specific action you must take with one of the pieces of evidence involved! Additionally, this is the first box that included items that had NOTHING to do with the mystery at hand--the miniature poster literally does nothing to help you in the story? And the use case for the planchette was poorly executed because you can BARELY see what you need to see from it. It is waaay too warped/blurry, even with a phone, which btw, THE GAME DOES NOT TELL YOU TO USE YOUR PHONE. (IYKYK) Also, there were so many plot holes that go unsolved by the end of the box.. which you NEVER get an in-depth explanation for, like WHY a certain character died via dance? or what really happened to the main character that caused her ultimate demise in 1999??? Or why a certain spirit sticks around the house for so many years, yet remains unreachable??? The acting was so bad in the videos, and it honestly just felt like a gimmicky cash grab collaboration. This was a total waste of our time and money. We played this box with two people who had NEVER played a HAK box before, and by the end, my partner and I were apologizing at the extremely poor first impression this box made, with promises to play a much better story, like Camp Calamity or even Dead Below Deck. As a die hard fan, I would seriously PASS on this one.
The game itself was REALLY fun, and the story and everything was really good!
I didnt hate the game, but my experience was ruined just a little by one puzzle, which you had to put into water. That whole part went way too fast for me, so i didnt get to see the result, which led me to use the online hints and reveals, which kind of ruined the experience for me, and i ended up using the hints and reveals a lot more than i should have, so i saw the name of the demon way before i should have. Now that's not to say the game was horrible! like i said, the game was REALLY good and well done, making me want to do another! I think i may have just got a faulty puzzle piece (if you played the game, you will know what i'm talking about, which i wont say here for spoilers sake) butI would definitely do another Hunt a Killer game in the future!
Slow delivery but that is understandable but great game takes up most up most of the afternoon and great fun and well worth the money may consider becoming a member
