Case dossier

Ryan booked a month by the lake so he and Monica could unplug and reconnect. The cookout next door was supposed to fix things. Monica left it furious, walked back to a dark rental house alone, and that's the last anyone saw her standing. The police like Ryan for it. You've got the photographs, seven nervous neighbors, and a locked box Monica left behind. Clear him, or don't, it's up to you.

Property & Evidence · Logged

What you'll actually be holding.

Other games describe their contents. We itemize ours like the prosecution will — real documents, real photographs, one box you have to earn your way into.

  • A womans hand holding a checkered locked tin

    Locked Time Capsule

Monica locked it before she died. Three riddles stand between you and what she was hiding. Worth it.

  • Crime Scene Photos

All the details matter, even the ones that are easy to miss.

  • Witness Statements ×7

Seven neighbors, seven accounts of the same night. The fireworks are the only thing they agree on.

Difficulty

The honest answer to "is this too hard?"

Medium — Tougher Than It Looks

The story does the heavy lifting; the puzzles ask you to read carefully and keep a timeline straight.

Before you commit

The questions everyone asks.

Is this going to be too hard for me?

No. The puzzles reward close reading and a clear timeline, not trivia or math. If you get stuck, our free online Hints & Reveals page walks you through it one nudge at a time — no spoilers unless you ask for them.

Can I play solo, or do I need a group?

Both work. It's a co-op case for 1 to 6. Solo is a focused couple of hours. Nobody competes — you're all on the same side, which is the only time that's ever true at game night.

How long does it take?

About 90 minutes to two hours. Most people do it in one sitting; some split it across two nights. There's no clock and nothing expires — pause whenever, the body will keep.

Do I need the internet to play?

Some cases include a digital component — a website or online evidence you access as part of the story. Any phone, tablet, or laptop works, and everything you need to log in is inside the box.

Is this a subscription?

No. One box, one case, one payment. Solve it and you own a very strange coffee-table object forever. Want the next one? You come back and buy the next one.

Does it make a good gift?

Alarmingly good. Use gift mode at checkout to add a recipient name, schedule the delivery, and hide the price. It reads as thoughtful and slightly unhinged, which is the correct gift.
