Welcome back, investigation junkies! We’re coming to you hot off the heels of one of our biggest launches ever, and we’re still buzzing with excitement. In this blog we’ll cover our recent collab, a game that’s still on its way, a new perspective on game releases, and some thoughts from our fearless leader.
The Sam & Colby Collab: A Spooking Success
We’re super thrilled at the success of our collab with the legendary ghost-hunting duo, Sam & Colby! This collaboration has been a long time coming, and the response has been absolutely murderous!
It’s been amazing to see the wave of new detectives who have joined our ranks. Thanks to Sam & Colby, we’ve introduced the world of Hunt A Killer to thousands of new fans, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome them to the community and see them get their hands dirty. We've seen so many of you sharing your progress, solving puzzles, and getting completely immersed in the mystery. It’s exactly why we do what we do!
This collaboration was a game-changer for us, and it’s opened up some really exciting doors. Moving forward, we’re planning on continuing making collaboration games that take us to seedy new places with awesome new people.
Patiently Waiting For The Killer Next Door
We were hoping to unveil the full extent of our new card game, Killer Next Door, but due to some international shipping delays we’re going to have to wait. The main launch of this bloodthirsty new game will come later this year.
A New Game For Tenured Detectives
Alright, detectives, gather 'round. For a long time, the name of the game has been releasing games indiscriminately. But we know that some of you are more tenured than others. In any given season you may see a new easy game at retailers but want a hard one, or vice versa. You've been asking for more, and we've been listening. Late next year (yeah we know that's a while) we’ll be launching our first offering crafted specifically for you hardcore detectives. A premium case with hours of gameplay, the most realistic evidence, and creative new gameplay devices.
These hard/expert cases will be released outside of standard retail drops and primarily be available online. Additionally, we’ll be shifting all of our retail cases into the easy-medium range. In this way, we aim to have a new case for you guys every quarter, yes you heard that right. Stay tuned as we continue to develop these. Until then, since we’re making them for you, we need your input. HERE is a link to a survey which has two story options for the first premium case. Tell us which one you like more and we’ll make it!
A Leader’s Take: Derrick Smith Talks Shop
Exciting new segment alert!!!
Here to talk a bit about his thoughts on Hunt A Killer is Derrick! (Derrick Smith is co-founder of Hunt A Killer and has led the creative vision for nearly a decade.)
During an observed playtest for one of our soon to be released titles, we had a couple of testers who were SUPER fans. They tested the game well, gave us valuable feedback, and caught a lot of the easter eggs we had buried in the storyline. So, naturally, we asked how many games they had played from Hunt A Killer. Then, they showed us their spreadsheet: 35 titles and counting! We were blown away.
We had a great conversation. We wanted to know why they played so many (childhood friends who only see each other a few times a year and they love true crime, so they binge our games together when they can). We wanted to know their favorite (Super Nova, but didn’t want to pick just one). And really wanted to know what about Hunt A Killer kept them coming back (the stories and characters).
This got me thinking a lot about the games we create and why we create them. In short, it’s for the players. We want everyone to play Hunt A Killer. We think using your brain and getting immersed in a story is valuable for all. So a lot of our retail efforts have been focused on bringing in new players. But we don’t want to forget about our core fans. We have some really fun projects lined up in 2026 – the kind of experiences that get us back to our roots, with longer play times and deep stories that have rich characters and twists and turns. The kind of experiences players can really sink into, always searching for the deeper meanings and hidden truth. So stay tuned. And thanks for playing with us.
(Easter Egg alert):
“It is that feeling of longing for that roast of knowledge upon which those only with our curious hunger may feast. It is the thrill of the hunt.”
Moving forward, you can expect at least one collaboration per year with incredible creators who share our passion for mystery and storytelling. We can't wait to see who we’ll be teaming up with next.
As always, thank you for your continued support. Keep sleuthing, and we’ll be back with more killer updates soon!
