Hunt A Killer is an immersive murder mystery game told over the course of six “episodes” or boxes. Each box is filled with different clues and physical items such as autopsy reports, witness statements, and more. You’ll use these clues to solve the ongoing murder mystery. In the final episode you’ll be able to catch the killer!
We have three pricing options to choose from. All of the plans renew automatically.
Our monthly membership is $30.00 per month plus shipping, billed monthly. If you choose this plan, one Hunt A Killer season costs $180.00 in total, plus shipping. You can cancel your membership at any time.
Our 6-month membership is $165.00, billed upfront with free shipping in the continental U.S. With this plan, each box comes out to $27.50. At the end of your 6-month season, your subscription will automatically renew with the next season unless you cancel.

When your box arrives, celebrate! You’re officially part of an exclusive community full of Hunt A Killer detectives just like you. First, set aside time to dig into the box and read all of the materials. Your goal may change each episode, but will be made clear by the included objective card.
Examine the evidence to uncover critical clues, corroborate alibis, create timelines, and identify each suspect’s means, motive, and opportunity. No two detectives work the case alike, so it’s up to you to figure out how to sift through the clues in a way that works best!
It's a good idea to dedicate a space to your investigation. Many members use a murder board to keep all of their materials in one place and organize their theories.
Feel free to mark up the materials by highlighting documents, pinning them up to a murder board or organizing the clues however you like. Join our official Facebook group (Hunt A Killer - Official) to chat with other members and be sure to join the spoiler-free Facebook groups set up for each individual episode. You can talk through ideas and theories with others who are also working through the same box and ask our Community Leaders any questions that pop up along the way.
Don’t forget to tag us on Instagram at @huntakillerinc and use the hashtag #huntakiller in your captions. We love seeing photos and videos of our customers playing!

No, Hunt A Killer is a narrative experience and each season has a distinct ending. You could conceivably play again if you wait long enough to forget many of the details but you may instead want to check out our premium experiences between seasons.
Hunt A Killer is fun to play on your own, with a friend (or a date!) or with a group. However, we don't recommend playing in a group larger than 6.
One box takes between 90 minutes to 3 hours to complete.
We do offer older seasons of Hunt A Killer as box sets here but act fast as they do sell out quickly!
Yes! We offer both digital e-gifts and physical gift cards to gift someone a subscription, go here to see which option is best for you.
We also have premium experiences that you can send someone. These premium boxes include all the materials and clues you’ll need to solve the case, no subscription needed.
Hunt A Killer is closest to a PG-13 rating due to the slightly graphic nature of some of the clues (like autopsy reports and crime scene photos) and also due to the difficulty of some of the clues (like certain ciphers and puzzles). Beyond this, we leave it up to parental discretion.
If you have more questions about age, we recommend joining our Facebook group (Hunt A Killer - Official) to ask people who have played the game.
Yes! New members always start on episode 1 of our current season.
No, however we're passionate about bringing justice to the thousands of murder victims whose cases have gone unsolved. We donate a portion of the proceeds from each Hunt A killer box to the Cold Case Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides resources to law enforcement agencies to help them solve cold cases.
You can cancel by logging in to your Hunt A Killer account, going to Manage Subscriptions, and clicking “cancel plan” or by emailing our customer service team at firstname.lastname@example.org. You will need to cancel at least 3 business days prior to renewal in order to prevent the next box from shipping.
NOTE: You can cancel at any time, but if you purchased a 6-month membership or a 12-month membership, we can’t refund you the money for any boxes that you don’t use. You will still be sent all the boxes in order to fulfill your membership and from there, your account will not be renewed.
Yes! You can pause your membership by logging in to your Hunt A Killer account, going to Manage Subscriptions, and clicking the “pause plan” link and then choosing if you’d like to pause for 30 days or 90 days. When your pause expires, you will pick right back up where you left off!
When you reach the end of a 6 episode season, you’ll be automatically moved on to our next murder mystery storyline and billed according to your subscription plan (if applicable).
Yes, in order to complete a box of Hunt A Killer you will need to access some digital materials through an online portal and for some episodes you will need access to a working email address.
Every Hunt A Killer game includes a Difficulty Rating to help you find the best game for your skills and experience level. Ratings are listed on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being Easy and 5 being Hard. Ratings are based on the following criteria, and each game details page lists which of these factors apply to the game:
Back Track: Later episodes of this season require referencing evidence found in earlier episodes to solve.
Eye for Detail: Solving this case requires especially close reading of the evidence.
Red Herrings: This experience contains red herrings or other information meant to muddy the case and make finding the truth more of a challenge.
Plentiful Puzzles: This experience contains multiple puzzles that expand gameplay beyond traditional investigation skills such as critical reading or creating a timeline.
Challenging Ciphers: Solving this case requires solving at least one challenging code or cipher.
Self-Guided: This is a less guided experience, encouraging players to explore the story in their own way without being directed on what they should be looking for to solve the case.
Well detective, luckily you have a few options:
1. Take a break from the case and come back to it. Sometimes fresh eyes are all you need to crack a case wide open.
2. Each episode has a dedicated hints page that offers spoiler-free hints for each item in the box as well as solutions if you are really stuck.
3. Each episode has dedicated online forums that are spoiler-free. Our community leaders who monitor all of the Facebook groups will be happy to help you.
Each episode has an objective card with instructions on how to complete this phase of the investigation.
